Our Privacy Commitment
Klava is built on a simple principle: your typing data belongs to you, and only you.
We believe privacy isn't just a feature—it's a fundamental right. This policy explains how Klava handles your data (spoiler: we don't).
What Data We Collect
None. Zero. 🫡
Klava does not collect, store, transmit, or have access to anything you type. This includes:
- Words you type
- Websites or apps you use
- Messages, emails, or documents
- Passwords or sensitive information
- Usage analytics or statistics
- Device identifiers or location data
On-Device Learning
Klava learns your writing style to improve word predictions. This learning happens entirely on your device:
- Local Processing: All machine learning runs on your iPhone or iPad
- Your Device Only: Learned words are stored exclusively in your device's secure storage
- Never Transmitted: Your personal dictionary never leaves your device
- You Control It: View and manage your learned words anytime in the app
Technical note: Klava uses a custom-built predictive engine that runs 100% locally on your device. Unlike cloud-based keyboards, our language model processes everything on your phone, ensuring no data ever leaves your control.
About "Full Access"
Apple requires keyboard apps to request "Full Access" for certain features. We understand this warning sounds scary, but it's a standard requirement for 3rd party keyboard apps. Here's the truth:
What Full Access Enables in Klava:
- Learning words you type
- Haptic feedback
- Consistent sync of settings between the Klava app and the keyboard itself
- And other current and planned features
What We DON'T Do with Full Access:
- Access the internet or transmit data
- Log keystrokes or typing data
- Track your behavior
- Share data with third parties
You can verify our privacy commitment by inspecting Klava's network activity—you won't find any. We literally have no servers to send data to.
Third-Party Services
Klava uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases and subscriptions. Apple processes payments according to their privacy policy. We don't see or store your payment information—Apple handles all of that.
We do not integrate any analytics services, advertising networks, or third-party SDKs in the keyboard extension.
Data Storage & Sync
Your keyboard settings and preferences are stored locally on your device using:
- App Group Container: Secure local storage shared between the main app and keyboard extension
- UserDefaults: Standard iOS secure storage for preferences
- No Cloud Sync: Settings don't sync across devices (to maintain privacy)
If you delete Klava, all data is automatically removed from your device.
Children's Privacy
Klava is safe for users of all ages, Klava does not collect any data, so nothing anyone types is ever collected or transmitted.
Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)
Under privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA, you have certain rights. Here's how they apply to Klava:
- Right to Access: There's no data to access—we don't have any
- Right to Deletion: Simply delete the app
- Right to Data Portability: Your learned words stay in iOS's secure storage
- Right to Opt-Out: There's nothing to opt out of
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. However, our core commitment to privacy will never change—we'll never start collecting your typing data.

The Bottom Line
Klava was built from the ground up with privacy as the foundation, not an afterthought. We genuinely have no idea what you type, and that's exactly how it should be. Type whatever the heck you want freely. ✨
